Exactly The Same As Last Time
What a brilliant hotel, brilliant staff, amazing location, exactly the same as it was when we visited a few months ago. Can't wait to get back again in the summer.
Amazing stay!
Stayed to celebrate husband's birthday.Wonderful hospitality, superb food and so friendly. Very thoughtful touches - appreciated the surprise birthday decorations in the room.Perfect location to walk into Bowness and easy drive to Grasmere for walking. Definitely will return!
Warm feeling on cold overcast weekend.
After not been back to the Lakes since my wife and I spent our mini-moon there back in 2011 I booked the Rybeck for a short stay for my wife's birthday. Feb is always a hard month to do something nice in the UK but we took a chance on the lakes at the mercy of mother nature and the weather.Luckily it stayed dry which made getting to the Rybeck hotel a cinch. My wife and I fall into the 45-55 bracket and really loved the old hotel with it's vibrant and more modern feel. The 2 nights we stayed were very different, 1st was laid-back chilled and quiet with an opportunity to dine in the hotel. 2nd was more lively with function going on in the bar area, a little less peaceful but did not bother us due to music and festivities finishing at a reasonable time. Our lasting impression of the Rybeck is food was 5/5. Service 5/5. Facilities 5/5. If there is 1 slight negative we would say the older style windows can leave rooms a little on the cooler side, not something that bothered us so much but something to bare in mind if visiting at colder times of the year. Thank you Rybeck Hotel and the staff there for making this a memorable and lovely stay for me and my very happy wife.
Great Stay
Great place to stay and both- love the murals! Breakfast and dinner excellent
Mother and daughter trip
I love how this hotel has old and modern features together. The bright colours are fab and all the quirky ornaments complement it beautifully. Food was lovely and lived the games to play in the bar.Jacuzzi bath was amazing and loved having Audrey Hepburn in our room. Would I recommend and come again absolutely. I might bring the dog next time.
Just what we needed!
We had such a lovely overnight stay, it’s a super cool atmosphere and it was just what we needed, great food gorgeous walks and good nights rest! We can’t wait to come back with our kids ( they will LOVE the vibe! )and for a girly night with some friends!
Great hotel, fantastic staff
We stayed 3 nights midweek in late January. Room was spacious and clean, very comfortable bed, lovely views and large bathroom. All staff were excellent throughout our stay, great service, friendly and helpful. Lovely cocktails and cozy fire to relax beside in the giddy goose bar. Breakfast each day was great, we didn't need lunches! Wide range of cooked breakfast options (including for vegetarians), with yoghurts, cereal, fruit and toast additionally available. We would stay here again (particularly this time of year when the area is quieter), and especially recommend the restaurant even to those not staying -our evening meal was the nicest of our trip, really tasty food (especially the tomato soup!), very generous portion sizes and continued excellent service.
Night away
Went for a little break away with my partner for the night. Didn’t venture out just stayed in the hotel bar. Very cosy bar with amazing cocktails. Food was excellent, prawns and duck spring rolls were very tasty. Gorgeous restaurant with a good atmosphere and beautiful views of lake Windermere. Staff were all lovely and really accommodating. Will definitely be returning, thank you!
Great Stay
Well worth a visit to this hotel. We only stayed one night but atmosphere ,food, decor were second to none. Staff made you welcome from the moment you arrive an asset to the business. Will definitely return.
Beautiful Views and Great Food & Drink

From talking through the door to leaving we couldn't fault a thing . Lovely room, fabulous staff & amazing food with a beautiful lake view . We will definitely be back.
Fabulous
We had a fabulous time at the hotel, the staff are friendly and professional, the food was delicious and the bedroom was spotless and comfortable. The lounge area after food is welcoming and cosy with the lovely log burner to keep you warm. Will definitely recommend and go again.
Fabulous
We spent the most amazing 4 days at this superb hotel, fabulous food , fab location and the staff were polite and welcoming.I would highly recommend this hotel for its tranquil setting, qwerky decor , and overall quality.
Excellent

Can't find any fault , would be returning again and again
Brilliant stay
So happy we chose to stay here. Lovely hotel. Great decor. Very dog friendly. Great choice for food for dinner and breakfast. Was tasty and very well presented. The Spanish lady who was on the bar and in the restaurant went above and beyond. Highly recommend staying here.
Amazing stay
Just got home from a beautiful stay for our birthday. The hotel is fanstatic and our room (9) was excellent, even saw the deer in the morningwhich was fab!Gina and the team couldn't do enough for us, we ate our evening meal in our room and everything was amazing.. the cheeseboard was unreal!Breakfast again was 10 out of 10, we cant wait to come back! Thank you for making our stay, perfect
Incredible
I booked this place for my mum & dad for a Christmas present as I’ve previously been before and loved it so much I knew they would to. They came home this morning in awe of the place and can’t wait to be back! The place is phenomenal, the staff are amazing! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Bowness! Thank you so much for an incredible service as always ❤️
A Winter Warmer
Just a last minute decision to book an overnight stay in January, following a cold, snowy spell at home, our spirits were quickly lifted by the warmth of the welcome and the hospitality shown to us at The Ryebeck Hotel. A lovely room and a delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Thank you. We will be back.
Great Stay At The Ryebeck
We have just returned home from a short stay at The Ryebeck and would highly recommend the Hotel.Great recent refurbishment, spotlessly clean, fantastic decor.Lounge/bar and restaurant areas are a great place to relax. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will return for another visit.
Wedding Anniversary
Lovely room and the whole place was stunning. Only criticism that the food at dinner didn't have the same wow factor as the hotel. Hence 4 stars not 5
Lovely
Lovely hotel, very comfy beds and nice sized room.We ate at the restaurant and the food was lovely and then had cocktails in the bar afterwards.Would highly recommend
Lovely hotel
Had a lovely 2 night stay at the Ryebeck.Very welcoming and attentive staff. We stayed in one room of the ground floor rooms, the views of the lake are amazing! The food was also very good both at breakfast and in the evening.Good prime location too with only a 20 minute walk to Bowness-On-Windermere.Highly recommend, will hopefully be back at some point.
Amazing
The staff can not do more for you. Beautiful location and a beautiful hotel. The food is next level, Can’t wait to go back.
Great!
Lovely comfortable room, view was amazing! The only annoying thing was the beds were pushed together as two singles so you can fall down the gap. Breakfast is also really lovely , a bit of a delay this morning but this was because there was a big walking group this morning and not enough staff. Would definitely come back though it’s a lovely hotel! Thank you
Amazing!!!!
Love this hotel, the staff are super friendly, the food and drinks are so nice! Love staying here at the Ryebeck! Definitely 5 stars! *****
Excellent service and value
Really enjoyable visit. Dinner B&B package great value. Staff very friendly and efficient.
One night stay
Lovely hotel in a great location. Very small room but that’s what we paid for. Room was not quite up to standard as to cleanliness. Which was dealt with by housekeeping and a complimentary drink in the bar. Evening meal and breakfast both excellent. Staff were very helpful. Overall a very pleasant stay. Would have given five stars if not for the room issues.
First class
Fabulous place fabulous surroundings and superb staff...definitely will be back
New years eve
Had a great time all staff friendly very clean hotel food was amazing great entertainment too
Excellent Short Stay
Really enjoyed our one night stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area was very relaxed and friendly, encouraging you to chat with other guests. Food was excellent- both evening meal and breakfast with a good choice of menu for both. Bedroom was really good, very clean, comfy bed.The only slight criticism would be the waiting time between courses for the evening meal, hopefully this will improve when you have been open a little longer. We won’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to family and friends. We will also definitely return.Thankyou for a great stay
Perfect!
Hotel was lovely and cosy, lovely views, good location for getting into Bowness. Staff were helpfulThe breakfast was 10/10Will be back in summer!
Great stay
Lovely hotel in great location with excellent service loved the bar and decorations . We eat evening meal and breakfast at the hotel both was lovely - thanks !
Acceptable
I've had a couple of days to reflect on my stay at The Ryebeck. Front of house staff are extremely competent with a star amongst, Megan. The housekeeping is faultless, thank you. At these prices it is not unreasonable to expect the bed bases to be in perfect condition, not frayed and tatty looking..I would not expect to find my bathroom sink cracked. The restaurant... it was really busy the night we stayed, our sitting was 5.30pm suited us. The food choice was extensiveUnfortunately two meals had to be sent back ,they arrived cold. My meal was just about warm enough to eat. It was delicious. Breakfast was a disaster, warm not hot food. The attention to detail was lacking badly. Insufficient cups and saucers. No condiments. Toast arrived cold just as we were finishing our meal.poor show at breakfast I'm afraid.Would I stay again probably because the staff are so pleasant.
Our family Christmas stay
We came to the Ryebeck to celebrate our Christmas as a family. Our welcome from the receptionist was warm & friendly, the rooms are spotless & beautifully decorated equipped with refreshment and utilities including a hairdryer. We had the best espresso martinis again from a lovely bar made, before we ate in the Restaurant.Fantastic food and great service. Will definitely be returning to this gem of a place.Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable.
Christmas stay
Our first time in the Lakes and it did not disappoint! The hotel was lovely fabulous decor so warm and toasty. The food and service was impeccable everyone was so friendly and we were made to feel so welcome. We enjoyed our Christmas stay so much and honestly cannot wait to return.Thank you to the Ryebeck team for making it a Christmas to remember!Xx
Fabulous Stay - we will be back!
Loved our quick one night getaway. From the initial call to book, to the goodbye everything was fabulous. We booked a dinner, B&B package and took our dog with us.Lovely ground floor room with direct access to the garden made bringing the dog possible and certainly dog friendly. Many hotels offer dog friendly stays but then you are placed in a room on a top floor! This IS dog friendly, thank you.The food was stunning! Both evening meal and breakfast were superb. The bar area is lovely for an evening drink. The staff are an asset to this hotel. All so very friendly and happy to chat to guests.Cant wait to return in the summer to benefit from the outdoor space on offer and the views of the lake. It’s about 25 minutes to walk into Bowness, huge car park which is free and Wi-Fi which is a bonus in the lakes!Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay to any of my friends.Thank you x
Amazing hotel
Our son booked this amazing hotel for us and what a fab time we had.All the staff were fantastic, all friendly and welcoming. Our lake view room was also amazing, lovely view and could see deer’s roaming about. The room and bathroom very spacious , clean and tidy. The huge bed was so comfy.Loved the themed artwork round the hotel so quirky.Porn star Martini was the best.Restaurant lovely decorated for Christmas and my roast sirloin of beef was to die for.My eggs royale for breakfast was the best I’d eaten, compliments to the chef.Thankyou team RyebeckPaul and Marie 😊
Great stay
Great staff and rooms with spectacular views.
Brilliant
Lovely hotel comfy beds friendly helpful staff highly recommend
Very enjoyable stay
Friendly welcome, very comfortable bedroom, delicious dinner.Loved the view. Will stay again!
Memorable stay in a gorgeous location
Beautifully decorated hotel in a modern funky style. Very comfortable and clean, service stellar and the food was delicious. Only 3 minutes from town and gorgeous Lake Windermere. Lake views from our window. We will be back!
December stay
Brilliant hotel, food ,and staff
Superb
We paid extra for an upgraded room, and were not disappointed. It was huge, with an uninterrupted view over the garden, the lake and the hills beyond. The enormous bed was comfortable and the linens of good quality. There were even towelling dressing gowns supplied. Public rooms have interesting decor and artwork. Sadly, a storm named Bertie made outdoor activities challenging, but the hotel was a warm and welcoming place to return to. The breakfast choices were good and the food of good quality. However, it was expensive unless you opt for a breakfast-included deal and there is no nearby alternative. Highly recommended.
Wonderful stay.
We booked in for dinner, bed and breakfast; and I must say we weren’t disappointed.Jack made us so welcome on arrival. The room was amazing, the food and service were excellent and the entertainment by Ben was most enjoyable. To top it off the breakfast was delicious and plenty choice.Lovely place we will be back.Thankyou.
Super Clean, Vibrant, Friendly, Warm, and Great food
We stayed at The Rybeck for a few nights with a friend, planning to enjoy some big hikes and meaningful conversations. This place proved to be the perfect setting. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere drew us in. The decor strikes a beautiful balance between luxury, creativity, and cosiness, creating a warm and inviting environment. We planned dinners elsewhere, but the ambience was so enjoyable, and the menu looked so good that we chose to stay in rather than venture out for dinner...we made the right choice. The service was impeccable and genuine, attentive, and thoughtful. It’s clear the owners and staff truly care about their guests, which made a significant difference compared to other places we’ve stayed in the Lakes. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. The beef short ribs were the best I’ve ever had, setting a new standard for what I always looked for. We’ve visited the Lake District many times, but The Rybeck stands out as a truly special experience. If you’re looking for a place that combines stunning hospitality with top-tier dining and epic access to nature, then this is it. I highly recommend it!
Will defo come back!
Room, lovely and clean, staff friendly and breakfast was 10/10

Fantastic food fabulous food and to top it all a great young singer in the very cosy bar.Our bedroom was beautiful and very dog friendly everything our little 4 legged friend needed was provided and an upgrade to a patio room topped off a perfect stay. We will be back.
Lovely stay, beautiful position, friendly staff and great food.
We stayed for 1 night with our springer spaniel dog. Great value room and dinner bed and breakfast.Would recommend to anyone.
Ryebeck beauty
After booking on a whim we found this quirky cosy hotel. On arrival were were immediately impressed by the decor, the original artworks on the walls and unique ornaments in every nook.Every where is so immaculate and smells wonderful ,the views spectacular. We got a really warm friendly welcome and check in was efficient with ample parking.Such a cosy lounge area with log burner, other guests present were friendly and chatty. Its feels very upmarket and yet relaxed.Compliments to the chefs as the food we had was beautifully presented and delicious. Locally sourced excellent produce. The cauliflower starter is to die for !We stayed in room 9 . A king room with whirlpool bath TV and coffee facilities. All little extras considered too and the view ... a constantly evolving landscape.More original artwork we were in awe of.The bed was so comfortable we slept so well and didn't hear a thing. Every thing feels quality. The staff couldn't do enough for us. We've stayed in so many places in the lakes. This has to be our favourite for it's originality, cosiness and the staff.(Bonus it's dog friendly)For the ambience and friendliness It's a gem of a find and we will most definitely be back. Loved it.
excellent weekend break
just ended a great 3 night stay at the Ryebeck hotel. once we arrived we were put in a room that was fine but unfortunately there was a noise issue with the room above us.as soon as we told reception they moved us to another room which was perfect. we really appreciated the help from reception.the breakfast staff were also really helpful and breakfast was lovely with a great vegan option for us.
Amazing
We had a lovely 24 hour break at The Ryebeck. Nestled into the hillside overlooking Windermere it’s a stunning location just outside of Bowness, it looked so festive in the snow it must look even better in the summer. The room was fantastic, clean and doors opened out into the garden The staff were amazing so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was really relaxed and totally non formal which we love. Decor and artwork were fantastic and a load of thought has gone into it. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but the breakfast was probably the best I’ve had plentiful and quality ingredients. We spoke to the owner before we left who was lovely and told her we will be back. They have only been there since May so I wish them the best of luck because they have done a great job. Thoroughly recommended and looking forward to coming back x
Nice stay
We’ve had a nice 3 nights at Ryebeck. Nice spacious room, comfy bed, good cocktails and food (breakfast and one dinner) was tasty. Appeared a bit short staffed so a bit of a wait for service, but we weren’t in a rush. Dog charge of £25/dog/night is a bit steep. Appreciate there may be a bit more cleaning required after a dog stays but the hoover is going over anyway and not every day of the stay. Would come back :)
A great Wedding Anniversary stay
Loved our last minute one night stay here. The staff are so friendly & our room was lovely. We had a great view of Lake Windermere.Food was excellent too. We will definitely be back!
A great stay
Stayed for two nights, booked through Booking.com. The hotel was all decked up for Christmas and looked fabulous inside and out. Warm and welcoming staff and the rooms were in beautiful condition. Did not dine there in the evenings, so cannot comment on the food but the breakfasts were excellent. All in all the Ryebeck Hotel was a perfect getaway and I fully recommend it.
Lovely cozy and friendly hotel
Made very welcome by the lovely staff and everything was spot on - the clean and practical room with french doors on to patio to be able to take the dog out into grounds, the good food evening and breakfast and the cozy bar - thank you
Amazing hotel with views of Lake Windermere!
We booked this hotel as a last minute trip to the lakes and we were so glad we did.Th room was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. The whole hotel had great views of the lake. Also, the breakfast was very tasty and there were plenty of options. We would definitely stay again!
Two nights away
This is a great comfortable hotel, room was large and well presented, the whole of the staff are a credit to this lovely place.
Highly recommend
Superb hotel . Great feel to the place , the food excellent great choice of drinks we couldn’t fault the place . 20 minute walk into bowness .
5* stay

Amazing
Last minute booking, and well worth it, nice to be greeted by Jack again and the atmosphere and food amazing
Amazing stay
My new favourite hotel , amazing hotel and superb staff , I will be returning without a doubt, thanks to the hotel team for a truly wonderful experience.
Brilliant stay!
We stayed on a Dinner Bed & Breakfast deal and it was amazing. The room was lovely, big & spacious with our own patio area and the hotel provided a travel cot for our baby and a bed & bowl for our dog. We enjoyed a 3 course dinner in the hotel and the food was fantastic as was the breakfast. There was also a singer on in the bar on the night we stayed, he was really good and there was a really nice atmosphere the whole time we were there. Will (and have been!) recommending to family & friends to stay.
Wonderful stay
Where to start - everything about our stay at The Ryebeck surpassed expectation. From the friendly staff to the stunning views, comfortable room and great food! We loved how dog friendly the hotel is and the location was perfect for our little hiking holiday with our 3 month old. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we’ll be back!

A Very Pleasant Experience
We spent 3 nights at The Ryebeck Hotel and was not disappointed. The location overlooking Lake Windermere is picturesque. The hotel is both furnished and decorated with flair with unique wall murals which add to the atmosphere. Our room had a very comfortable superking bed. A modern ensuite with corner whirlpool bath with powerful shower over. Bath House products and fresh white towels.Great choice of breakfast options on the menu. Good variety of choice for evening meals. A well stocked bar with good choice in wines and cocktailsWe found all members of staff to be well informed, polite and engaging. Nothing was too much trouble. We are looking forward tovisiting again and experiencing mote of the area. Thanks to all the staff of The Ryebeck Hotel
Perfect getaway
We booked last minute as a 1 night getaway for some quality time together. Hotel was beautiful. Room was lovely clean and spacious. The food was amazing. We ate here for dinner and breakfast and I would highly recommend eating here if you are staying. Also all staff were lovely and welcoming. We will most definitely be returning on our next visit to the lakes.
5 Star 🌟
The Ryebeck is a beautiful hotel. You pull up the drive and greeted with a stunning building with lots of character - you then step through the door it has lots of quirky characteristics. The room was stunning, so many little touches and the view was picture perfect. The food was so tasty, the menu has a wide range to suit anyone.Lastly, the staff - especially the waiting staff couldn't do enough for you, they were friendly, accommodating and so polite.Would absolutely stay again!
Excellent
The hotel had just reopened and there were some teething issues but once ironed out this will be a wonderful place to stay. The quality of the fittings is evident, our room was very comfortable, only comment would be that there should be 2 chairs provided. The meals were excellent, the staff are excellent and the location is excellent. We have stayed before and hope to stay again.
Amazing
Very friendly staff, very clean rooms, top quality food and stay. I’ll be back!
